The Lone Palm Before the Storm
A single palmyra palm stands sentinel over an endless green paddy field while a monsoon sky boils overhead, towering cumulus catching the last clean light before the rain. This is the Bengal countryside at its most cinematic — flat, wet, luminous, and alive. A lone grazing animal gives the vastness its scale. Fun fact: The palmyra (*tal*) palm can live more than 100 years and is called the "tree of a thousand uses" — its sap becomes jaggery and drink, its leaves become fans, thatch and manuscripts, and its fruit is a summer favourite across Bangladesh.
