Young Munia

A juvenile scaly-breasted munia, still in plain buff plumage before its scaly "adult" markings come in, grips a grass seed-head. Soft, gentle and full of youthful roundness. Fun fact: Young munias look so different from adults — no scalloping at all — that they're often mistaken for a separate species until they moult into their patterned grown-up coats.
