Master of Camouflage (scops owl)

A collared/Oriental scops owl sits frozen on a bamboo stem, its bark-patterned plumage and little ear-tufts making it nearly disappear into the branch. Look twice and the owl emerges. Fun fact: Scops owls are the ultimate hide-in-plain-sight artists — when alarmed they stretch tall, flatten their feathers and raise their ear-tufts to mimic a broken branch stub, and their camouflage is so good they often go completely unnoticed.
