Wing-flap on the Water

The little grebe rears up to flap its wings on the water's surface, its motion mirrored in a flawless reflection. A lovely burst of energy from a usually shy little bird. Fun fact: Grebes' legs are set so far back on their bodies — perfect for diving — that they can barely walk on land, so they do almost everything, including sleeping and courting, afloat.
